Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement
Updated May 2026
Our commitment
Sparkline Advisory Ltd is committed to fostering an environment that values and promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in everything we do. We believe that diverse perspectives and genuinely inclusive practices strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional services and contribute positively to the communities we work in.
We operate primarily in the higher education and further education sectors, where EDI sits at the heart of institutional mission and regulatory expectation. We take our own responsibilities in this area seriously and seek to reflect the values we encourage in the organisations we support.
This statement is made in the spirit of the Equality Act 2010, which protects individuals from discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics. While as a small company we are not subject to all the duties that apply to larger organisations, we voluntarily uphold the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of our work.
Our principles
| Respect Treating every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances. | Opportunity Providing equitable access to opportunities, resources, and support for all those we work with. | Inclusion Ensuring all individuals feel valued, heard, and included in our work and communications. | Diversity Celebrating difference and actively promoting diverse perspectives across everything we do. |
Scope
This statement applies to all aspects of how Sparkline Advisory Ltd operates, including:
- Interactions with clients, collaborators, and stakeholders.
- The selection and engagement of subcontractors and collaborators.
- The development and delivery of our consultancy, training, and advisory services.
- The content, communications, and resources we produce and publish.
- Our conduct online, including on social media and in professional networks.
Protected characteristics
We are committed to fair treatment for all individuals regardless of the following protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010:
| Age Disability Gender reassignment | Marriage and civil partnership Pregnancy and maternity Race | Religion or belief Sex Sexual orientation |
Our commitments
1. Promoting equality
We are committed to ensuring fair treatment and equitable access to opportunities for all individuals we work with, and to challenging discriminatory practices or attitudes whenever we encounter them.
2. Creating an inclusive environment
We aim to provide a welcoming and inclusive experience for all clients, collaborators, and partners. We seek to ensure that our communications, content, services, and training materials are accessible and relevant to diverse audiences, and we welcome feedback where we fall short of this.
3. Championing diversity
We actively encourage the inclusion of diverse perspectives in our work and decision-making. We seek out opportunities to support and amplify underrepresented voices, particularly within the data, technology, and education communities where representation gaps persist.
4. Responsible practice in our sector work
Much of our work involves advising higher and further education institutions on data governance, AI policy, and organisational practice. We recognise that the advice and frameworks we develop can have a direct impact on how institutions treat their staff, students, and communities. We are mindful of this responsibility and bring an EDI lens to our consultancy practice wherever relevant.
5. Accessible communications
We aim to ensure that the content, resources, and training we produce are accessible to the widest possible audience. This includes considering readability, format, and accessibility in our written and digital outputs. Our website includes an accessibility statement setting out the steps we take in this area.
6. Ongoing learning
We are committed to ongoing education and self-reflection on EDI issues. As a small organisation, formal training programmes are not applicable, but we actively engage with EDI developments in the sectors we serve and seek to challenge our own assumptions and biases in our work.
Measuring and improving
We are committed to continually evaluating and improving our EDI practices. As a small company, our approach to this is proportionate and practical:
- We welcome feedback from clients, collaborators, and stakeholders on our EDI practices and take all feedback seriously.
- We review this statement annually and update it to reflect evolving best practice and any changes to our operations.
- We reflect on EDI considerations as part of our ongoing service development and client work.
We do not currently collect formal EDI data about our clients or collaborators, and we have no employees. As the business grows and evolves, we will review what additional steps are appropriate.
Feedback and contact
We genuinely welcome feedback on our equality, diversity, and inclusion practices. If you have suggestions, concerns, or experiences to share – whether positive or negative – please get in touch at dataprotection@sparklineadvisory.com
We are committed to acknowledging all feedback promptly and engaging with it respectfully and constructively.
